As of January 1st 2013, Free TV Australia have introduced a new audio standard known as OP-59.

This new standard refers to measuring audio loudness as opposed to audio level, aiming to address the contrast in loudness between commercials and programs. All commercials on air in Australia from 2013 onward are required to be OP-59 compliant or they will rejected by broadcasters. Obviously no-one wants that to happen, but we're well equipped to ensure your TVC complies with this new technical standard before it reaches the stations.

It's important to remember that for now slates should still state that the material is OP-48 compliant, stating that it is OP-59 compliant is not required at this stage.

If you have any questions about this new standard please don't hesitate to contact us, or check out Free TV's OPERATIONAL PRACTICE OP-59 document below.
